Study on the Social Capacity and Willingness to participate in Development Processes

Objetive: The aim of this study is to identify the social attitude towards development and the citizens capacity to participate actively and efficiently in local and community development processes.

Aspects to analyse:

 Social vision of the role of different agents (government, private and social sectors) in local development.

 Social receptiveness of new production methods and new economic activities.

 Importance of the relationship between economic growth and social development.

 Citizens perception of their capacity to participate and their attitude towards training.

 Social perception of the problems and challenges in pursuing local and community development.

 Social perception on posible ways to face those problems and challenges.

 Social awareness of the opportunities that globalisation may offer to localities and communities (geographic horizon of development).

Agents to whom the study should be directed:

* Members of particular communities.

* Representatives of social organisations.

* Members of universities and technological centres.

Survey methodology: The nature of the study implies the utilisation of qualitative and quantitative methods. The main elements of the survey are:

* Clear definition of analysis and evaluation criteria.

* Design of questionnaires refered to specific indicators.

* Sample design.

* Generating and collecting information.

* Database construction.

* Information analysis.
