H.P. Lovecraft (1890-1937)

is probably best known as a writer of weird fiction. He found escape in reading, and later writing, producing some of the most original and complex horror fiction ever published. Lovecraft, best known for the many works of weird fictionhe wrote. Many of these works began what is now called the Cthulhu Mythos. His imagination spawned many writers to contribute to the stories he wrote dealing with the Mythos.

Lovecraft was considered as the 20th century Poe, H. P. Lovecraft wrote fantasy reminiscent of Dunsany and horror in the best tradition of Poe, Blackwood, and Machen. He singled out the best elements in the work of his literary masters and blended them into a unique style of his own. Today, he is regarded by most critics and authors as the 20th Century's greatest writer of the supernatural.
